Global Family Day 2023 celebrated on January 1st

• Global Family Day is celebrated annually on 1 January promote peace, love, and unity among people.

Coffee export from India rose almost 2% to 4 lakh tonne in 2022

• Coffee shipments from India, Asia’s third largest producer and exporter, rose 1.66 per cent to 4 lakh tonne in 2022 on rise in instant coffee exports and re-exports, according to the Coffee Board.
• Exports stood at 3.93 lakh tonne in 2021.
• India ships both Robusta and Arabica varieties, besides instant coffee.
• Italy, Germany and Russia are the major export destinations for the Indian coffee.

DEXA: BCCI introduces new selection criteria for Team India

• The new rule made Yo-Yo test mandatory for players to be selected for the national team.
• Players must also take a ‘DEXA’ before being selected.
• Emerging players have to play enough domestic seasons to be eligible for selection in the national team.
• The Yo-Yo test is an aerobic endurance fitness test.
• DEXA is a bone density test.

EC launches ‘Mission-929’ to take voter turnout in Tripura to over 90%

• Election Commission of India(ECI) has started ‘Mission 929’ in Tripura.
• It will focus on 929 polling booths across Tripura with a target to increase the voter turnout to 92% in the next assembly elections.
• These booths recorded a voter turnout of less than 89% in the 2018 assembly polls.
• Except for these booths almost all the booths in the state recorded a voter turnout of 91% or more.

DRDO celebrated its 65th foundation day on 1st January 2023

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is a premier defence research and development agency under the Ministry of Defence.

Himachal Pradesh govt. launches CM’s Sukhashray Sahayata Kosh

• Himachal govt. announced to set up Rs 101 crore CM’s Sukhashraya Sahayata Kosh for the destitutes in the state.
• All the Ministers and Congress MLA will contribute their first salary to the fund.
• The scheme will aim to provide the facility of higher education to needy children and destitute women.
• The state will bear the expenditure on skill development and education of such children.

GST collections in December grow 15% to Rs 1.49 lakh crore

• Goods and Service Tax (GST) collections for the month of December stood at over Rs 1.49 lakh crore, 15% higher than the year-ago period.
• In November, the collections were at nearly Rs 1.46 lakh crore, up 11 per cent from the year-ago period.
• The collections had touched a record high of nearly Rs 1.68 lakh crore in April. The second-highest collection was Rs 1.52 lakh crore in October.

RBI tags SBI, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank as Systemically Important Banks

• State Bank of India (SBI) and privately owned ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank continue to be Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs).
• D-SIBs are institutions that are too big to fail.
• In 2015 and 2016, RBI had classified SBI and ICICI Bank as D-SIBs.
• Further, based on data collected from banks as on March 31, 2017, HDFC Bank was also classified as a D-SIB, along with SBI and ICICI Bank.

Odisha – 1st state to have separate registration for vintage vehicles

• Odisha became the ever Indian state to have a separate registration process for vintage vehicles (both two and four-wheelers).
• A separate provision under Central Motor Vehicles (CMV) Rules, 1989 was made by the ministry of road transport and highways for this purpose.
• Under the CMV, 50 years old vehicles from the date of their first registration would be defined as vintage motor vehicles.

SMART’ program for Ayurveda professionals to boost R&D in Ayurveda

• Ministry of Ayush has launched ‘SMART’ (Scope for Mainstreaming Ayurveda Research in Teaching Professionals) program.
• It aims to boost scientific research in priority healthcare research areas through Ayurveda colleges and hospitals.
• The proposed initiative is conceptualised with an objective to identify, support and promote innovative research ideas in healthcare research areas.

India and Austria ink pact on Migration and Mobility

• India has signed a Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement with Austria.
• It has similar agreements with France, UK, Germany, and Finland.

• Koustav Chatterjee became India’s 78th Grandmaster in MPL 59th National Senior Chess Championship in New Delhi.
• The 19-year-old drew his game against GM Mitrabha Guha.
• Koustav hailing from Kolkata becomes West Bengal’s tenth Grandmaster.
• Koustav earned his maiden GM-norm at Sheikh Russel GM 2021 in Bangladesh and scored his second GM-norm at Asian Continental Championship 2022.

Tata Group veteran RK Krishnakumar, 84, passes away

• He joined the group’s investment company Tata Industries fresh out of Presidency college, Chennai, in 1963.
• He subsequently moved to different Tata entities in his 60 year long career.
• KK became part of Ratan Tata’s inner circle in 1997.
• He subsequently became VC of Tata Consumer & Indian Hotels, director of Tata Sons and trustee of Tata Trusts.
• He was also a Padma Shri awardee.

Punjab & Sind Bank and SBI Card launch co-brand credit cards

• Public sector bank Punjab and Sind Bank (PSB) has partnered with SBI Card to launch co-brand credit cards for the bank’s customers.
• PSB has also entered the credit card market as a new product segment in its portfolio as a result of this collaboration.
• Three card variants—the PSB SBI Card ELITE, PSB SBI Card PRIME, and PSB SimplySAVE SBI Card—have been launched by both partners.

Railways rolls out energy efficiency plan to meet 2030 net-zero target

• Railway Ministry has outlined a five-pronged plan to become carbon-neutral by 2030.

129th birth anniversary of Satyendra Nath Bose

• Bose was born in Kolkata on January 1,1894.
• Bose got a Bachelor of Science degree at the Presidency College and later a MSc in Mixed Mathematics in 1915.
• Bose collaborated with Einstein to develop what we now know as the Bose-Einstein statistics.
• He was appointed to the position of Reader in Physics at the University of Dhaka.
• Bose was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1954.

Facts: Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs)

• D-SIBs are institutions that are too big to fail.
• They are declared as D-SIBs by RBI.
• In order to be listed as D-SIB, a bank needs to have assets that exceed 2 % of the national GDP. The banks are then further classified across 5 buckets.
• For instance, ICICI Bank & HDFC Bank fall under bucket 1 and SBI falls in bucket 3.

Facts: Goods and Service Tax (GST)

• It is a destination-based taxation system established by 101 Constitutional Amendment Act.
• It is an indirect tax for the whole country on the lines of “One Nation One Tax” to make India a unified market.
• It is calculated only in the “Value addition” at any stage of goods or services.

चुनाव आयोग ने त्रिपुरा में 90% से अधिक मतदान करने के लिए ‘मिशन -929’ लॉन्च किया

हिमाचल प्रदेश मुख्यमंत्री सुखाश्रय सहायता कोष की शुरुआत की

दिसंबर में जीएसटी संग्रह 15% बढ़कर 1.49 लाख करोड़ रुपये हो गया

• दिसंबर महीने के लिए माल और सेवा कर (जीएसटी) संग्रह 1.49 लाख करोड़ रुपये से अधिक रहा, जो कि एक साल पहले की अवधि की तुलना में 15% अधिक है।
• नवंबर में, संग्रह लगभग 1.46 लाख करोड़ रुपये था, जो एक साल पहले की अवधि से 11 प्रतिशत अधिक था।
• अप्रैल में संग्रह ने लगभग 1.68 लाख करोड़ रुपये के रिकॉर्ड उच्च स्तर को छू लिया था। दूसरा सबसे ज्यादा कलेक्शन अक्टूबर में 1.52 लाख करोड़ रुपए रहा।

आरबीआई ने एसबीआई, आईसीआईसीआई बैंक, एचडीएफसी बैंक को व्यवस्थित रूप से महत्वपूर्ण बैंकों के रूप में टैग किया

• स्टेट बैंक ऑफ इंडिया (SBI) और निजी स्वामित्व वाले ICICI बैंक और HDFC बैंक घरेलू व्यवस्थित रूप से महत्वपूर्ण बैंक (D-SIB) बने हुए हैं।
• डी-एसआईबी ऐसे संस्थान हैं जो विफल होने के लिए बहुत बड़े हैं।

ओडिशा – विंटेज वाहनों के लिए अलग पंजीकरण कराने वाला पहला राज्य

• ओडिशा विंटेज वाहनों (दोपहिया और चौपहिया दोनों) के लिए अलग पंजीकरण प्रक्रिया वाला पहला भारतीय राज्य बन गया है।
• केंद्रीय मोटर वाहन (CMV) नियम, 1989 के तहत इस उद्देश्य के लिए सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय द्वारा एक अलग प्रावधान किया गया था।
• सीएमवी के तहत, 50 साल पुराने वाहनों को उनके पहले पंजीकरण की तारीख से विंटेज मोटर वाहनों के रूप में परिभाषित किया जाएगा।

आयुर्वेद पेशेवरों के लिए आयुर्वेद में अनुसंधान एवं विकास को बढ़ावा देने के लिए स्मार्ट कार्यक्रम

आयुष मंत्रालय ने ‘स्मार्ट’ (स्कोप फॉर मेनस्ट्रीमिंग आयुर्वेद रिसर्च इन टीचिंग प्रोफेशनल्स) प्रोग्राम लॉन्च किया है।
इसका उद्देश्य आयुर्वेद कॉलेजों और अस्पतालों के माध्यम से प्राथमिकता वाले स्वास्थ्य अनुसंधान क्षेत्रों में वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देना है।
प्रस्तावित पहल की परिकल्पना स्वास्थ्य सेवा अनुसंधान क्षेत्रों में नवीन अनुसंधान विचारों की पहचान, समर्थन और प्रचार करने के उद्देश्य से की गई है।

भारत और ऑस्ट्रिया ने प्रवासन और गतिशीलता पर समझौता किया

• भारत ने ऑस्ट्रिया के साथ एक व्यापक प्रवासन और गतिशीलता भागीदारी समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।

गुजरात को भारत में पशुओं के लिए पहली आईवीएफ इकाई मिली
